Physical therapy is a health care specialty concerned with treating disorders of the musculoskeletal and neurological systems and their interactions with physical movement.

Physical therapy is ordered by a physician when it is felt that such a course of treatment would be beneficial. It is offered to a wide variety of patients, including newborn babies, children, adults, and geriatrics.

Physical therapy is useful in treating many different medical disorders, injuries, neurological and muscular illnesses, as well as cardiopulmonary diseases. These are only a few pathologic conditions in which physical therapy plays a role.

Through patient and therapist interaction, physical therapy can help patients restore movement and return to their highest level of function.
